I am a visual artist of mixed European ancestry, privileged to be living and working on the tum xula7xw/traditional territory of the sn̓ʕay̓ckstx/Sinixt, otherwise known as Nelson, BC. My practice is centred on a deep respect and understanding of Earth, stemming from my former career as a geoscientist. My work is informed by earth’s ongoing processes, unimaginable timescales, and our complex relationship with the geologic materials incorporated into our daily lives. The cultivation of local place attachments and the recognition of vibrancy in rock is a primary focus of my studies. Using drawing, painting, sculpture and textiles, my work invites the viewer to experience textures, patterns and processes found right under foot and offer a personal and intimate connection to the story of Earth.
